two days!

Well, quite a bit has happened this past week and weekend.
Ryan's cat Mango passed away. It's been pretty sad around his place lately. Mornings are so different without her. She was in so much pain in her last few days so it's good that she's at rest now. But it's still very hard to get used to the fact that she won't be right in your face when you wake up, begging for food when your cooking, or pretty much just hanging out in her usual spots.
R.I.P girl <3

My garden has been coming along! It's been doing fantastic actually. I love that I can just walk into my backyard and have fresh spinach or kale waiting for me. My other veggies are still growing. But soon I will have carrots, peas, peppers, zucchini,  beets, onions and beans!
Little side story, there were recently baby robins in my backyard! We had seen the adults flying around our yard quite frequently and weren't sure where they were going. But one afternoon when I was watering my garden, I saw one of the adults go into our little apple tree that isn't much taller than I am. So I slowly walked over and checked it out. There it was! A small nest and two little babies. So cool!! So from then on we had been keeping an eye on the nest and the robins. One day when I outside I heard this weird chirping from over by my fence. When I went to go see, the baby robins were out of the nest! Just chilling in the tall grass. When I tried to lean in closer to get a picture I was pretty much dive bomb attacked by the parents! Haha, gotta admit it was pretty funny. I haven't seen them around lately anymore so I hope they made it!

I'm dog sitting Tucker at the moment. This is the second time I've had him. He's amazing! I wish he needed sitting more often. He gets along so well with my dog at home and they play all day so they're both pooped by bedtime. He goes home tomorrow (Canada Day) which is perfect timing cause my boyfriend and I want to go see Matt Good perform at the Cloverdale event and watch the fireworks. We may even be meeting up with a few of our friends so I'm looking forward to that :)

We didn't do all that much this past weekend. Saturday was pretty much a lazy day which I think Ryan and I both needed. It was pretty nice actually, we cuddled and watched netflix and went for a nice evening walk around town.
Sunday morning I made us a big breakfast with the intention of getting Ryan up early to clean up before we leave for our trip! Haha. It worked ;)
We had to drive out to his dad's house in Port Coquiltlam to pick up a few things for our road trip. On our way back we stopped at a park called Minnikhada. Apparently there's good bass fishing and awesome hikes all over the park. We didn't plan to do anything big. Just check out the spots and maybe walk a small trail. When we got there, I couldn't help but notice that there were 'Bear in Area' and 'Be Bear Aware' signs EVERYWHERE.
Okay, we're alright. This is good. They're only black bears, and I need to get over my stupid anxiety at some point right?
Well, we pretty much didn't see any bears until we were driving out of the park by the blueberry fields. It was a momma with her two cubs. Such an amazing sight to see. Not to mention that there were people just walking on by and the bear honestly looked like it didn't give a shit. They just wanted those damn berries. It made me see I was being stupid haha. I understand that there are precautions you need to take with everything outdoors that you do. But just as much as I don't want an encounter with them, they don't want an encounter with me. I'm cool with that. We plan to go back and explore some more!

Oh, did I mention that when we were on our way out of the house on Sunday we met some goats, a llama, and a donkey right in Ryan's parking lot? Haha, I guess the art gallery below Ryan's place was having their one year anniversary and had Alder Acres come and set up a little petting zoo. Super cool.

Well, today is Monday, and I leave for Granisle on Wednesday with my babe. I hope everything works out and we have a great time. Till then Blog!

Nahatlatch River

During our holiday up at Blue Lake, we decided to drive down on Sunday to the Nahatlatch River to do some fishing. It was beyond beautiful. The river was absolutely gorgeous, the sun was warm, and the fishing was wonderful. I also didn't know how beautiful river trout are compared to lake trout. I want to go back again and again. There was no one around so we had the whole riverbank all to ourselves and caught about 10 fish each within the hour that we were there. We didn't keep any. They were all just too beautiful so we put them back.
On our drive back to Blue Lake, Ryan pulled over and I thought he was pulling over to take a leak but instead came back with a pretty little bouquet of wild mountain flowers. Oh I love him to pieces.

I think I'm going to buy a big scrap book and start putting in memories of all our trips like this together. A blog just doesn't feel like enough :)

Blue Lake

Early morning sun and mountain air pouring in through the cabin window, boyfriend fly fishing out on our private dock, zac brown band singing on the radio, the smell of bacon cooking, and the sound of our fire crackling outside. Pure happiness.
But seriously, I wanted to stay on holiday forever and never come back. It was just too perfect. We weren't really sure what to expect when we booked this trip, but it turned out to be one of the best vacations yet. Even though it was only for two nights.
When we reserved our cabin, they told us we were booking the nicest cabin they had, which sounded awesome! We didn't know that we got our own private dock and canoe and hot tub to! Not to mention that they did a fantastic job at making each cabin and campsite super private so you had lots of privacy and didn't have to worry about random people walking through your site. The cabin was beautiful. It had a full kitchen and bathroom, two rooms and a mudroom. Even satellite TV! I know I know, not really camping. More like glamping. But after cuddling next to the fire and going inside and watching a movie together before bed made it feel almost more like you were right at home.

There was lots of wildlife we got to see. Including deer, awesome looking birds, muskrats, fish, and even a little mouse that lived in our cabin, I named him Henry haha.
The fishing was fabulous. The lake didn't have anything huge in it, but tons of small and medium trout. When you would make your cast, you'd have a bite within the minute, which made it so much fun and I was able to practice tons of different kinds of fishing using all different kinds of baits and lures. We did some fly fishing while trolling on the canoe. Caught a few fish which was pretty fun because when you use a fly rod, the rod is so sensitive that the fish always puts up such a big fight and it feels so much more rewarding when you reel him in.

Saturday was filled with fishing, swimming, suntanning, hiking, and canoeing. When we first checked in it was suggested to us that we make sure and do the hike to the look-out spot. She said to be careful because it's so beautiful that you may never want to leave but to make sure you take supplies and have good shoes. That hooked me right away. I said to Ryan we HAVE to do it. And oh my gosh were we happy we did. I've never seen something like that before. The hike was ALL incline. I was good at first but oh wow, we needed to take a few breaks. It took us about 45 minutes to get to the top. It was hard to tell where you were because of all the trees around you, but all of a sudden we could feel a breeze start. And the closer we got the stronger the wind became. It was so exciting. And she wasn't lying about the view. I could have stayed up there forever. I don't think there was any amount of time that was long enough for me to feel as if I had taken it all in. I really don't like admitting this, but I nearly cried at how beautiful it was. The pictures we took just don't do what saw justice. We had so much fun doing it that we made a promise to do as many hikes like that from now on as we possibly can.

All in all it was a great weekend. We were sad it was so short but we plan to go back again next year.

Happy Vibes

This weekend was pretty much an awesome success. Friday night Jordan and I went shopping to Willowbrook mall and we pretty much hit the jackpot. Sales everywhere. I got some cute shorts and capris from my favorite store and even spoiled my bf a little. Then I spoiled myself at Bath and Body works some more. Candles and lotions and soaps on sale for $2!! Jordan and I kept filling up our shopping baskets and repeating to ourselves "we should leave while we can." haha, we didn't.
Saturday Ryan and I spent most of the day in pajamas watching netflix and cuddling with the cutest bernese dog that I was dog sitting at the time. We went for a small walk but it was pretty gross out so we went back home pretty quick.

This morning we decided last minute to go to Mission for some hiking and fishing. It didn't rain the whole time we were there but it wasn't super hot either so it was actually pretty perfect. We each caught some fish but only kept one. We saw a garter snake just curled up laying on a rock by the lake which was super cool cause he just chilled there while we got to look at it for awhile. We also saw some beautiful eagles, deer, and banana slugs!
The hike was beautiful, we walked all the way around Hicks Lake and even went off the trail at times to do some exploring. We found a beautiful waterfall that we unfortunately could only view from far back because a pretty big creek was blocking it off and we didn't really feel like taking our shoes off to get across.

I'm currently at home waiting to have dinner with my family for Fathers Day. I'm so excited for my dad to open his card and see the Alan Jackson tickets that I bought him!
Now I just have to get through Monday - Thursday and then Ryan and I are headed camping! Then we come home on Monday and we just have to make it through Tuesday - Friday and then we are off again to Granisle!

Feeling Good

Tomorrow will mark two weeks of no Instagram and only being on Facebook twice for work stuff.
And I'm being 100% honest when I say that I don't miss it. I found that anything important that I needed to know, I found out through my close friends and anything I needed to see, I got shown it. If I needed to get in contact with anyone, I used email or texting. I will probably delete my Instagram pretty soon, just want to go through and save any pictures I don't have on my phone anymore.
Gotta be honest, for me, I feel like I'm not controlled by it anymore. I hated feeling that my day was incomplete without being caught up on my newsfeed. I still blog, obviously, and use Pinterest. But that's for me and not anyone else's benefit.

It's raining today, which sucks, but the nice weather is supposed to be returning soon! Which I sure hope they're right! Ryan and I have camping planned for not this weeekend but the next and then the week following that, we have our trip up to Granisle. WHICH I'M SO EXCITED FOR. It's a 12 hour drive but I don't care. I actually love road trips.
The trout in the river there is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous and our friends live about a 5 minute walk from it. Apparently there are moose all over the place to, sounds neat. I've only ever seen one in my lifetime.

Then we come home and have two weeks to relax and get back to work for a bit and then it's Pender time with friends :)
Ryan has booked a fish guiding trip for while were there. The guide has mentioned that the time were going will be great for sockeye. We booked the whole day, which is was SO EXPENSIVE, over $600, but, how often do you get a chance like that? I hope we catch lots. Fresh sockeye for dinner will be fantastic.

Sunny and it's Friday ? Awesome

So, it's Friday.
That means that tomorrow is Saturday. Which means that my boyfriend is home from Toronto tomorrow.

SO EXCITED. I know it's only been 5 days. But I'm just so happy. I've missed him a lot.
We plan to lounge in the sun together on Sunday and just relax. Then next weekend we want to scratch one of our things off our summer to do list. Maybe kayaking or hiking the Chief. Depends on the weather. And then the weekend after that is our first camping trip this year together. So many good things in a row. I hope it will all work out :)
