Out of nowhere, it slipped away
And the rope by the river hangs silently
And the town that we knew ain't nothing like it used to be I can't explain
They took all the color from the picture frame
And the days got sold to the grid and the game
And I just can't let it go, no, I just can't let it go
I wonder if you ever think about it like I do
Seven kids on a two lane road
We had the guns on the radio After all this time it still feels so good
When I think about those summer nights
Singing out the window, on the back roads, Sweet Child of Mine
Sipping on the local's spark of light
Ain't it funny how the best days of my life
Was all that wasted time
The plane ride - such a rush. And I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be. I did feel a lot of emotions when it began to speed up to take off. What an incredible feeling. I want to keep going on plane rides to so many places! Anyway, we arrive and finally figure out how to find our shuttle that will take us to the hotel. The guy driving it was so funny! We really liked him. We went out exploring for a bit and grabbed an early dinner at a restaurant in our hotel. The best pad thai I've ever had. That night we saw 'O' by cirque du solei. OH MY GAWD. I've never witnessed anything so magical in my entire life. I think my mouth was open and my eyes wide the entire show. It was just so phenomenal. I enjoyed each and every minute. I hope to see it again sometime.
The second day we explored a little more. We decided to make that the day we went to Madame Tussauds wax museum. I had such a blast. It was so weird to see the wax figures though. Some looked so real that it felt odd staring at them too long haha. We then went to Fat Tuesdays. Fat. Tuesdays. If you ever go to Vegas, I highly recommend you try it, But - just make sure your with a friend and within good walking distance of your hotel so you can go back there to pass out from being so drunk hahaha. We had lunch at Serendipity - which, I'm pretty sure was really tasty, it was right after Fat Tuesdays so I don't remember much of the details haha. We then went over to Mandalay Bay to go to the Shark Reef which was pretty neat. We got to pet some fishies and view some of the coolest fish while walking through a tunnel in the tank! Such a cool feeling to be standing there and have a shark swim over top of you. THEN - it was time for Thunder From Down Under. We ended up making friends with this adorable girl that sat beside us who got separated from her aunt because they bought the tickets so late. Ladies - You have to see this show at least once in your lifetime. I've never screamed so much haha. Plus I got my booty smacked so that was neat.
The next day was the road trip to the Grand Canyon in the MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE. (thank you tina for driving <3) Arizona was pretty cool. I liked seeing all the tumbleweeds. The Grand Canyon was beautiful. I don't think I could sit here and type my exact emotions and thoughts of the entire thing because I was pretty much speechless the entire time. It was hard to take in just how magnificent the whole thing was. We got some great photos which I'm super happy about. On the way out of the park we got a little turned around. (Don't always listen to your GPS - It doesn't always know what it's talking about haha) Getting lost was pretty special though, because we actually came upon a big herd of Elk. We got back a little after dinner time and grabbed food at Hard Rock Cafe. So tasty.
The next day was our last full day with no big plans. So we just took advantage of that to look around at everything we hadn't seen yet and just took in whatever else of Vegas we could. We watched the the show at the Bellagio Fountains - where we saw Pitbull and Robin Thicke filming a music video! - and then went on to Freemont Street. We had lunch at Gordon Ramseys' restaurant and some tasty gelato in Cesears Palace.
The shuttle driver on our way to the airport to go home was just as nice and funny as the first guy. We rode with this sweet older couple from Seattle as well. We were all chatting and laughing the whole way there. We even ran into the older couple while in the airport.
I had the most wonderful time in Vegas and the best part was that it was shared with my best friend. We talked after about how well we travel together. We always seem to be on the same page - and on the small chance that we're not, we're incredibly well at picking that up and adjusting ourselves to better suit the other person. I couldn't think of a better person to want to travel with. Thanks Tina for helping make my first big adventure so wonderful.
after the stress of the past couple weeks... It's time to focus on ME more. I don't do that enough. Also, deleting the FB app off of my phone for awhile again. I hate Facebook most times. I usually end up seeing things I don't want to see and just feeling negative afterward. Instagram for looking at mountains and yoga should be alright for awhile. But we shall see.
I finally got to see my Brittany last night! Even though we are both feeling under the weather it's been far too long to not get together. We went for sushi at Sushi Mori. Not my favorite place but it's right in the middle :)
She told me about her time away and how much fun her and Chris had. They are just the cutest couple ever. She shared a story with me about a guy they met that gave her some wisdom that I want to write down here so I remember it. "Don't marry yourself to one idea of who you are" - Basically, we tend to believe we are one way. Saying things like "Well, that's just who I am." "That's me" "That's just how I do it" "Oh, I wouldn't be good at that." "Oh, I can't do something like that" If you let yourself believe that you are only one way - how will you ever grow or turn into the person that your actually supposed to be. You'll also miss out on many opportunities in life.
The other I found so interesting. This guy asked Chris and Brittany how old they were but then immediately said "Don't tell me, I don't want to know" - So, obviously Brittany asked why. And he explained that whenever someone tells him their age, he sees them in a different way. Kind of like, 'oh, they're so young, they don't know what their talking about' or 'oh, they're a lot older, they must be right'. It completely changes the way you view a conversation. After their conversation was over, he told them he was 45. Brittany said she couldn't believe it, he looked 30 and she also said that if she had know he was 45 at the beginning - he was right - she would have viewed the whole encounter differently.
It was interesting to think about. What I thought was so cool was that this random guy doesn't even know how his little conversation has made it all the way back to my blog. I love little things like that.
Well, I stand corrected. I used to say that I thought I would never get the 'travel bug'. That I was perfectly happy just staying in BC and exploring that. Which I'm sure I would still be okay with. But ever since Christina and I booked Vegas and are planning to book London this year, I can't help the feeling of wanting to go everywhere!! Okay maybe not everywhere. But there's so many places I want to see. London, Ireland, Scotland, Switzerland, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, Africa, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, Nashville, (I know there's more) But the feeling of planning a trip and booking it and counting down the days is just so exciting. I want to never stop doing that.
Oh my goodness, Christmas is over? It's 2016? What? When did this happen? I'm back to work already? Bah! But no, in all seriousness, I'm happy to be back to work. I've missed the dogs terribly and I was starting to feel pretty lazy haha. Christmas was wonderful :) A tad hectic but the good kind of hectic. I got pretty spoiled (Yes, I know that's not what Christmas is about) I got a cool new camera that's waterproof and shock proof. So I'm super stoked to take it out on the kayak and get some awesome pictures! Once it warms up of course haha. New Year's eve was pretty uneventful, but fun. Ryan and I decided to stay in. We ordered sushi and watched movies. We also played a game of Disney scene It (I kicked his ass of course) and a game of chess (He kicked my ass) On New Years day I went for an outing with my mom and dad and the puppies. We went to Cliff Park in Maple Ridge which is so gorgeous. Not the biggest or longest walk but the views are wonderful for just a nice short stroll. Plus it was suuuuuper cold so it wasn't too great to be out walking around.

Well, yesterday was fun. NOT. Ryan called me at work at 11:30 asking if his keys were in my car. They were. Since there was a meeting he had to get to I left work early and drove the keys out to Fort Langley for him. My mom and I headed back to Fleetwood to go grocery shopping because I wanted to get some fresh veggies. We got the veggies and as I got into my truck to start it...It didn't start. Yay. After a few failed attempts I called our mechanic and they called a tow truck. My poor baby. It's in the shop as I type this and I'm hoping it's nothing serious. I'm not quite ready to say goodbye. Haha. Hm, what else is new... Diane and Eric are down visiting from Granisle :) So on Saturday we went to our friends' Jill and Mike's house and Diane and Eric came over and we all spent the afternoon catching up and of course, talking about what were going to do this summer when we go up there again. I'm so excited!! Is it July yet? Haha Also, there's only 66 days until Vegas. Pretty much 2 months. HOLY CRAP I AM SO EXCITED. I'm excited to see the Grand Canyon, I'm excited for my first plane ride, I'm excited for the food, I'm excited to see the strip, and I'm mostly excited to be spending 4 days there with my best friend!!
