This weekend was absolutely FABULOUS.
Friday night was super cool as Ryan took me out to 1827 to get rid of some of the stress that I picked up from my shift earlier that day. We ate delicious food and talked into the night.
Saturday morning I woke up early and did some yoga. I then met up with Brittany and Kelsey and we headed to the She Talks convention in Surrey.
I was blown away. Such an amazing experience. Full of laughter and tears. It felt very special to get to be a part of the first ever She Talks event as well. One of the women that stuck with me a lot was a lady named Tetyana Golota. She was the most cutest thing ever. She had us laughing and smiling while telling us her journey to achieve what she thought she wanted in life. 'A big house, a husband, a nice car, kids, a good paying job, the works!' until she found herself one day being diagnosed with depression, anxiety, a whole bunch of other problems, to top it off? A brain tumor. It was removed and she made it - obviously. While making us laugh by saying that she played a joke on her husband by saying "who are you?" as she woke up from the operation. She said that she made a promise to promise to herself while she was in the hospital. She would quit her job and start doing the things that she wanted. She ended by saying "...I didn't find happiness in those material things (not that there's anything wrong with them) Chasing those material things will not make you happy, you must do the things that will truly make you happy as that is how to get the best out of life." Her story had me crying the most I think.
Then there was Monika Hibbs. Who spent most of her life going to school to be a doctor. She soon realized that spending most of her life in a hospital was not the life she wanted. She quit her job and now spends her time doing photography :)
I could go on forever talking about all the women's' speeches as they were all so awesome. But I highly suggest you check them out for yourself! They will be posted online just like Ted Talks :) You can see all the amazing women on this site here :

I know I will definitely be going back to the next She Talks!
After the event, it was about 4:30pm. The girls and I had planned to do a bunch of stuff earlier on but since the show ran later than we had anticipated we decided to just do dinner. We went to Original Joe's in Cloverdale and talked about the amazing thing we had just witnessed! lol. By the time I got home it was 7:30pm. I don't know why, but I just felt EXHAUSTED. Maybe it was the day before catching up with me? Or the big day at the talks. Whatever it was sent me to bed at 9pm haha.
Sunday morning I woke up with a text from Mark and Julie inviting Ryan and I to go hiking. As Ryan had to work the Tradex show he was unable to attend. But I was super into it! We decided to go to Lindeman again. It was such a beautiful day for it. Also, being quite proud of myself, last time I went I had to take three breaks. This time (while carrying my big backpack) I didn't have to stop once! I still felt like dying but it was awesome haha. We ate lunch on the other side of the lake while soaking up the sun before heading back down. We talked about stopping to see Cascade falls on the way back but decided to save that for another time.
Later that evening Ryan and I took Kobe to the river to enjoy the last little bit of sunshine. We then met my brother and my mom at Maru sushi for din din. So yummy.
After a few episodes of True Blood after dinner I went to bed as I had to get up early for work this morning. I'm feeling a little sore from the hike yesterday and was hoping to go for a run this afternoon. Looks like it will be my yoga routine for sore muscles (while watching True Blood haha)
Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!
