Love Day & the rest

This past weekend was great. I had such a good time.
Friday night was super cool. Ryan and our friend Mark surprised me and his wife, Julie, with taking us to the gun range for Valentines Day! We were SO excited. It ended up being such a cool experience. You had to sit through a 10 minute lesson on gun safety and what not before going in. One of the biggest rules they had was to not put your finger on the trigger until the instructor said it was okay to shoot. So of course when it's Nicole's turn, my finger goes right onto the trigger and the instructor laughed and told me to calm down haha.
Not to sound conceded or anything, but I rocked it! I did SO good. I was very proud of myself. I shot a 9mm and a ....45? I think? I like the 9mm much better because there was less kick and easier to work with. After the gun range, Julie and I headed into Cloverdale to pick up the dogs from my parents house and brought back Timmies to the apartment and we all hungout for a bit and discussed how we want to get our PAL ( I think that's what it's called haha).

Then it was Love Day! I woke up extra early and baked cupcakes and made chocolate covered strawberries and a yummy breakfast. We got ready for the day as we had planned to spend it outdoors fishing or hiking. We decided on a good long hike with our 3 pups! We went to a trail called 'North Matsqui' I believe? It was very nice. Took two hours to finish our walk. We didn't even go the whole way! Got to see some horses pass us on the trail which was cool :)

That night we made a DELICIOUS dinner of Halibut, oven roasted potatoes (made my special way) and salad. My stomach is growling right now just thinking of it. We then had ice cream and watched movies into the night. All in all a great day.

Sunday morning I got up early yet again, did my morning yoga as my body was pretty sore from the days hike before. After breakfast we decided to try our luck for trout and steelhead in the salmon river near Fort Langley. It's a beautiful place to spend an afternoon but it's sadly never that rewarding in terms of fish.

So happy we decided to go. We ended up catching a few beautiful looking cutthroats as well as tons of bites. INCLUDING an awesome fight that a steelhead put up with us. It was the biggest steelhead we had ever seen. It fought so long and hard and unfortunately on it's biggest jump out of the water it got off the line. We tried with all our might, switching up our gear and bait to get it again, but it left us alone. Guess there's a reason he's so big and powerful right? The thrill of fighting him and watching the fight was enough awesomness in itself, but we still wish we could have taken look at the beauty out of the water. Till next time buddy! Haha. While we were fishing we all of a sudden heard barking dogs. Then we saw these two dogs come charging out of one of the fields up on the hill from where we were standing. They ran over to us instantly and we made friends! They stuck around and hungout with us for a bit. It was super cute. Their names were Kona and Rylie. Then their owner called and they went running like a bat outta hell haha.

Later that evening I went to dinner at a delicious restaurant for Tina's birthday. It was nice seeing all her friends again and catching up. It was super awesome that Steve was there as well! I haven't seen that guy in years (literally). We laughed lots and ate great food. A great time!

Today is Monday yet again. Tonight I'm going to see 50 shades of Grey with Tina and Jordan! SO PUMPED! WOOO, lady porn! haha. It's supposed to be lovely weather all week and I hope they're right! Not that we need sunshine to be happy, but it helps! Plus, I need to get out and start wearing my new hiking boots I bought to get my feet used to them and make sure they're the right fit before I do any big hikes. Tina and Britt, we need to get on that! ;) They're beautiful boots. I got them from MEC. The ladies that helped me pick them out were so sweet and helpful. And their return policy is kick ass. I could wear the boots 10 times and walk them through mud and they would still take them back and re-new them for me if they weren't working right. Perks of being a member there I guess? Kinda like costco lol.

Just a couple random pics from this past weekend! :P

Till next time Blog!
